2023 Umpires Needed

A great way to learn to respect umpires is to become one! De Pere Baseball is in need of umpires for the upcoming 2023 season.  We will need umpires for the following programs:

  • Pee Wee Majors
    • This league is machine pitch, playing games at Quarry Park and Ledgeview Park, and the players are in 1st and 2nd grade.
    • In need of umpires who are currently in 5th grade or older (2022-23 school year)
    • One umpire needed per game. Pay is $15 per game plus one meal item and beverage from concessions (if at a location with concessions)
  • American League & National League
    • These leagues are kid pitch (umpires will call balls & strikes behind the plate while wearing league-provided protective gear), playing games at Kelly Danen Park and Mulva Family Fields (Scray Hill Park)
    • American League players are in 3rd & 4th grade; National League players are in 5th & 6th grade
    • In need of umpires who are currently in 7th grade or older (2022-23 school year)
    • Two umpires needed per game. Pay is $20 per game for the field umpire and $25 per game for the home plate umpire plus one meal item and beverage from concessions (if at a location with concessions).
  • Pony & Babe Ruth League
    • These leagues are run by the Bay Area Baseball League. Pony (7th graders) and Babe Ruth (8th graders) play at locations around the Green Bay area with home games played at Southwest Park.
    • In need of umpires who are 9th graders or older (2022-23 school year)
    • Two umpires needed per game.  Pay is $40 per game for both field and plate umpires.

This is a great way to make some money and give back to your community.  Our kids need umpires to play.

Current DPYB Bat Regulations

USA Baseball Stamp

Beginning with our 2022 Fall Ball season, De Pere Youth Baseball will now fully adopt the USA Baseball standard for bats used in our recreational leagues (Little Sluggers through National League; 4K through 6th grade).  All bats used in these Leagues will need to bear the "USA Baseball" certification stamp to be legal for play.  Please note that this rule change is for our recreational leagues only, and that no change is being made for our tournament teams who will still be allowed to use the bats in accordance with the rules for the tournaments they have entered. No change is being made at this time for our hosted tournaments either.

The USA Baseball bat standard was first created in 2018 to address safety concerns from the previous USSSA 1.15 BPF standard.  The USA Bats are designed to be a safer alternative and were adopted by Little League and many other youth baseball organizations after a number of serious injuries had occurred.  De Pere Youth Baseball adopted the USA Baseball bat standard beginning with the 2018 season, but had grandfathered in the previously Little League-approved USSSA bats that did not exceed a barrel diameter of 2 1/4" (such as the Easton Mako) with the intent of fully adopting the standard in the future which is what we are doing at this time.

Bat rules for the Pony 13U and Babe Ruth 14U leagues are set by the Bay Area Baseball League and are unaffected by this rule change.

Bad Weather? Best way to find out if baseball is cancelled...

YOU MUST UPDATE this request EVERY season for it to be active. Please follow the instructions below to receive text updates.

We have created another way to get updated on cancellations and changes - text message updates.  We will still e-mail cancellations and changes as well as post them on our Facebook page when possible.  However, we know that a lot of people do not check those often.  Text messages will allow you to get them as soon as we announce a cancellation or change.  In addition, there are times when it may be too late to e-mail or post on our page so text message updates would be solely used.

We are providing this to all leagues from K through 6th grade.  Please make sure you are signing up for the correct program and, if appropriate, the correct night.  Text message rates and other charges may apply from your wireless provider.  Send a text to 81010 with the abbreviation listed for your program (be sure to include the "@" sign in your message).
