Parents Meeting Presentation

Below is a link to the PowerPoint presentation that was given at the parents meeting on Tuesday, March 26, 2013.  We strongly encourage parents to review the presentation as it provided a lot of information about the ogranization and our programs.  It also addressed the most common questions we receive.  For those of you that did not attend the parents meeting, we ask that you read the presentation before e-mailing us your question or concern.

REQUIRED FORMS FOR PARTICIPATION

Every player in a De Pere Baseball program MUST turn in the Concussion Acknowledgement form before being allowed to participate.  This includes practice.  A player is not allowed to practice or play until these forms are turned in.  This is a new state law so there are no exceptions.  Every season requires a new form to be filled out and turned in and every sport needs to have one.  So if you turned one in for one of our previous leagues or you turned one in for a different sport, you MUST still turn one in now.

Here is the Concussion Acknowledgement form.  It must be signed by the parent (does not have to be signed by the player).  Concussion Acknowledgement Form

Program Descriptions

The Little Sluggers T-Ball league is for kids in pre-K or Kindergarten. It is designed to introduce kids to baseball. Kids hit off a tee and a safety ball is used. The season begins in April and ends in early June.

The Little Sluggers Coach Pitch league is for kids in pre-K or Kindergarten. For pre-K, this league is appropriate for kids who can hit a pitched ball and follow directions, especially safety ones, from a coach.  Kids receive five pitches and if they do not hit it then it is placed on a tee. The season begins in April and ends in early June.

The Pee Wee Minor League is for kids in Kindergarten, 1st grade or 2nd grade.  For Kindergartners, this league is appropriate for kids with advanced skills. Kids hit off a pitching machine and more formal baseball rules (including outs) are introduced. There are no standings or league tournament and Minors players are not eligible to try out for a tournament team. The season begins in April and ends in early June.

The Pee Wee Majors League is for 1st and 2nd graders. There is an opening weekend of play in May and a season-ending league tournament. Kids hit off a pitching machine and more formal baseball rules (including outs) are introduced. This league is more competitive than Minors. Players interested in trying out for a tournament team MUST sign up for Pee Wee Majors. The season begins in April and ends in mid-July.

Kelly Danen American League is for kids in 3rd and 4th grade.  This is a kid-pitch league and nearly all baseball rules apply (with the notable exception of leading off).  This league plays on Tuesday and Thursday nights.  Game times start at 5:00, 6:30 and 8:00.  The season runs from April through mid-July.  Opening day is Saturday of Mother's Day weekend.

Kelly Danen National League is for kids in 5th and 6th grade.  This is a kid-pitch league and nearly all baseball rules apply (with the notable exception of leading off).  This league plays on Monday and Wednesday nights.  Game times start at 5:00, 6:30 and 8:00.  The season runs from April through mid-July.  Opening day is Saturday of Mother's Day weekend.

The Pony League is for kids in 7th grade.  We participate in the Bay Area Pony League which means games are held throughout northeast Wisconsin.  Home games are played at Gandrud Field at Southwest Park.  Normal baseball rules are followed.  The diamond dimensions are an intermediate size between Little League (like Kelly Danen) and high school.

The Babe Ruth League is for kids in 8th or 9th grade.  We participate in the Bay Area Babe Ruth League which means games are held throughout northeast Wisconsin.  Home games are played at the high school field at either West De Pere or De Pere.

Legion is for kids in 10th-12th grade (and some 9th graders based on recommendations from the high school varsity coaches).
